As the landscape of social science research fundamentally shifts from relying on basic descriptive and inferential statistics to adopting highly complex applied statistical modeling, research teachers, thesis advisers, and defense panelists need a modernized pedagogical and evaluative framework that prioritizes methodological rigor and nuanced data interpretation. Historically, quantitative research inquiry leaned heavily on traditional tools like simple t-tests and basic one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Today, however, the availability of large datasets and advanced computing has pushed the discipline toward sophisticated models capable of addressing the multifaceted nature of human behavior. Methods such as structural equation modeling (SEM), multilevel mixed-effects models, and Bayesian inference have transitioned from niche quantitative specialties into mainstream social science research. As the social sciences continue to embrace causal inference, reproducible practices, and AI-assisted computational tools, how can research teachers, thesis advisers, and panelists guarantee thesis and dissertation that reflect their students' true analytical competence rather than just the ability to generate automated outputs?

Advancing the statistical competence of research teachers, thesis advisers, and panelists, the Asian Society of Teachers for Research, Inc. holds the Training-Workshop on the Recent Trends in Statistical Modeling for Research Teachers, Advisers, and Panelists on October 28-30, 2026 at the Pinnacle Hotel and Suites, Davao City, Philippines.

OBJECTIVES OF THE TRAINING-WORKSHOP:

1. To evaluate recent trends in applied statistical modeling in the social sciences, with emphasis on selecting appropriate statistical techniques based on research questions, study designs, data characteristics, and underlying assumptions;
2. To apply selected statistical modeling techniques using JAMOVI to analyze social science research data, including model specification, assumption checking, interpretation of outputs, and presentation of results according to accepted research reporting standards; and
3. To critically evaluate statistical analyses and statistical software-generated outputs in research manuscripts as research teachers, advisers, and panelists.

• Registration Fee of the Training-Workshop is at 6,500.00 PHP which is inclusive of two-day lunches, am and pm snacks, training materials, registration ids and certificates, among others. The participants are reminded that the Training-Workshop is in LIVEOUT arrangement and thus, the hotel accommodation during the Training-Workshop will be shouldered by the participating individual.

Our trainer has a background in Marketing and a passion in statistics and data analysis. He obtained an MBA in Corporate Management from the University of Southeastern Philippines and a second master's degree in Predictive Analytics, focusing on Asset Management and Productivity, from Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia. He also holds a PhD in Development Research and Administration from the University of Southeastern Philippines. He was the University Statistician and Research Director as well as a specialist of the University of Mindanao Institute of Popular Opinion (IPO) for seven years, overseeing the collection and analysis of data and dissemination of various popular opinion studies concerning Dabawenyos. He is now working on studies that use machine learning and artificial intelligence for day-to-day applications in complementarity with his visiting professorial lecturer status of Predictive Analytics and Machine Learning at University of Southeastern Philippines' College of Development Management in Davao City, Philippines. Moreover, he is the managing editor of the Journal of Economy and Enterprise Studies (JEES), the research journal of UM for studies under the business and economics cluster. In April 2024, he joined Jose Maria College Foundation, Inc. and is currently the Director for Research Development, Publication and Accreditation.
