TRAINING-WORKSHOP ON BASIC AND INTERMEDIATE STATISTICS: ANALYSIS, INTERPRETATIONS, AND SENSEMAKING VIA OPEN-SOURCE STATISTICAL FREEWARES
September 11-13, 2025
The Orchard Hotel Baguio, Baguio City
The International Association of Scholarly Publishers, Editors and Reviewers (IASPER) with the SEC Registration No. CN201433407 is inviting you to participate in the Training-Workshop on Basic and Intermediate Statistics: Analysis, Interpretations, and Sensemaking via Open-Source Statistical Freewares on September 11-13, 2025 at The Orchard Hotel Baguio, Baguio, Philippines.
TRAINING RATIONALE
In an era where evidence-based practices and data-driven decisions are highly valued in academic, research, and institutional settings, statistical proficiency becomes essential. Faculty members, graduate students, and institutional researchers are increasingly required to interpret and communicate statistical findings meaningfully. However, barriers such as limited access to proprietary software and inadequate training in statistical interpretation often hinder effective data utilization.
This training-workshop aims to build statistical literacy using freely available open-source statistical tools (such as JASP, Jamovi, PSPP, and R-based GUIs). Emphasizing both basic and intermediate levels of statistical analysis, this training empowers participants not just to perform statistical tests, but to interpret, visualize, and make sense of the data in practical contexts. This initiative contributes directly to institutional quality assurance, research productivity, and improved pedagogy grounded in real-world data analysis.
TRAINING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the training, participants are expected to:
- Demonstrate competence in performing basic and intermediate statistical analyses (e.g., t-tests, ANOVA, correlation, regression) using open-source software such as JASP or Jamovi.
- Interpret statistical outputs correctly and translate findings into meaningful conclusions applicable to research and classroom assessment.
- Appreciate the value of open-access statistical tools as viable alternatives to commercial packages for sustainable, inclusive, and research-oriented academic work.
