TRAINING-WORKSHOP ON THE FUNDAMENTALS OF STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODELING FOR SOCIAL SCIENCES
April 16-18, 2026
Days Hotel by Wyndham Iloilo, Iloilo City
The International Association of Scholarly Publishers, Editors and Reviewers (IASPER) with the SEC Registration No. CN201433407 is inviting you to participate in the Training-Workshop on the Fundamentals of Structural Equation Modeling for Social Sciences on April 16-18, 2026 at Days Hotel by Wyndham Iloilo, Iloilo City, Philippines.
RATIONALE
In the ever-evolving landscape of social sciences, the ability to rigorously analyze complex relationships between variables is paramount. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is a powerful statistical technique that allows researchers to test and estimate causal relationships using both direct and indirect effects. This method integrates multiple regression analysis, factor analysis, and path analysis, providing a comprehensive approach to understanding and interpreting complex data structures.
Despite its utility, SEM can be intimidating due to its complexity and the mathematical rigor it requires. Many researchers in the social sciences are often deterred by these challenges, resulting in underutilization of this valuable analytical tool. To bridge this gap, we are introducing a specialized training program with an emphasis on using JAMOVI software. JAMOVI is a user-friendly, open-source statistical software that simplifies the implementation of SEM, making it accessible to a broader audience.
The training-workshop aims to:
- Understand the Theoretical Foundations and Concepts of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). This objective aims to provide participants with a solid understanding of the underlying theories and principles of SEM. The training will cover the historical development of SEM, key concepts such as latent variables, measurement models, and structural models, and the distinction between reflective and formative indicators. By grasping these foundational theories, participants will be better equipped to apply SEM techniques appropriately and effectively in their research.
- Develop Practical Skills in Applying SEM Using JAMOVI Software. The practical application of SEM can be daunting due to the complexity of the statistical calculations involved. This objective focuses on equipping participants with hands-on skills in using JAMOVI software to perform SEM analysis. Participants will learn how to input data, specify models, estimate parameters, and interpret the results. By the end of the training, participants will be proficient in using JAMOVI to conduct SEM, enabling them to independently analyze their research data and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Enhance the Ability to Critically Evaluate and Interpret SEM Results in Social Science Research. Beyond technical proficiency, it is crucial for researchers to critically evaluate and interpret SEM results within the context of their studies. This objective aims to develop participants' ability to assess the validity and reliability of their SEM models, understand fit indices, and make informed decisions based on the analysis. The training will include case studies and examples from published social science research to illustrate best practices and common pitfalls in SEM application.
